Late Registration
The new album by Kanye West is a complete suprise, not that i wasn't expecting it to be good - but not this good. It's on heavy rotation at the moment- and i must say he's gone up in my estimation. (add his recent comments on the situation in New Orleans)
Lyrically his flow is not up there with the greats, but his style suits his soulful thoughtful beats to the ground. Common's verse on My way Home is so good, Kanye didn't even try and step. And you got to give props to anyone who can get Jay and Nas on the same album.
Plus his willingness to tackle issues beyond the normal 'cash crop' name dropping, lifestyle refering confines of recent commercial hip hop is refreshing. For a hip-hop artist that is N0.1 on the album charts in the uk - with album consisting of tracks without referncing to the number of bullet holes in his chest but rather conflict diamonds from Sierra Leone......u just got to stand up.
Kanye...make i'm guess the next album will be titled. 1st Class hons. (and i skipped class)

Kanye West's music is not really that good. The first track has some fucked up lyrics... there is some uneducated voice on there saying "you didn't think you'd see me again, huh, kid... put down your backpack, you acting like you're in fourth grade..."
The song makes no sense whatsoever. In the rest of the songs, Kanye just brags about how many Grammy awards parties he's been to.
